BOSTON (May 27, 2021) WinnCompanies announced today that the application period for the 2021-2022 WinningEdge Scholarship in partnership with uAspire is now open until Monday, June 14, 2021. Criteria and an online application are available at uaspire.submittable.com.
Since its launch in 2012, the WinningEdge Scholarship has awarded nearly $500,000 to more than 400 residents at communities managed by WinnResidential or WinnResidential Military Housing and children or dependents of WinnCompanies team members. During the 2020-21 school year, 57 residents and the children/dependents of ten employees received financial support to pursue post-secondary education at colleges, universities, and professional trade schools.
The partnership with uAspire began in 2020 and brought the WinningEdge application process online and improved capabilities to assess students’ financial need. Further, uAspire provides free financial aid counseling to applicants regardless of award.
The 57 scholarship recipients in 2020 are from 12 states: 27 residents of WinnResidential communities in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island; and 30 residents of WinnResidential Military Housing Services, a joint-venture of WinnCompanies and Lendlease, in Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Kentucky, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas.
The WinningEdge Employee Scholarship which launched in 2018 was awarded to ten children of WinnCompanies members from California, Connecticut, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, and Texas.
WinningEdge scholarship applications, including transcripts, essays, and personal references were evaluated and chosen based on students’ academic performance, financial need, demonstrated leadership in school, community, or place of work, and proficiency in their chosen field of study.
